Iain Gray
Iain Gray
CEO

Iain Gray is a founding member and largest shareholder of Broker Direct and played a pivotal role in establishing the company, originally serving as Finance Director. In 2021, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer, where he continues to drive the company forward with a clear vision and deep industry knowledge. In 2011 Iain founded and is chairman of BD Elite. A dynamic and strategic leader, Iain brings over three decades of financial and operational expertise to the business. After earning his business degree in 1985, Iain began his career at Schroder Financial Management, where he qualified as an Accountant. In 1989, he joined Preferred Direct Insurance as Systems & Project Accountant, quickly rising through the ranks to become Financial Controller by 1991. Iain’s journey with Broker Direct and BD Elite has been one of growth, innovation, and leadership.

Operations Director

Ann Golder joined Broker Direct at the launch of the company in 1997 and has been a member of the board since 2012. Her Insurance career began over thirty years ago having completed a Business degree and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Helen Meacock
UK Development

Helen has spent most of her insurance career at Auto Windscreens. During her time at Auto Windscreens, she was responsible for managing a number of larger brokers and insurer relationships for over 20 years which included the role as the account manager for Broker Direct. Helen joined Broker Direct in 2016 as UK Development Manager, her roles include, managing day to day relationships of some of our commercial products providers, along with structuring and managing the business development team. Since 2021, she is responsible for ensuring that Proficient Insurance delivers first class outsourced insurance services. You will recognise Helen as enthusiastic and motivated to drive the small field team in maintaining strong relationships with Broker Direct’s brokers in the UK.

Programme Manager

Debbie has over 25 years’ experience working in the general insurance industry, six years of which were spent with Zurich International as Risk Engineering Co-ordinator. Debbie joined Broker Direct in 1997 and has overseen the delivery of many products with the Industry’s insurers over the years. Currently, Debbie manages both the Development and Project Management Services Teams which looks after our internal core systems and undertakes all aspects of Project Management/BA/User Acceptance Testing working closely with our Partners and Third Parties as required.

Suzanne Stanley
Business Operations & Services

Suzanne has over 30 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry, starting her career at Excess Insurance, then ITT London & Edinburgh where she worked in both the Motor Service and Household Service Centres, then moving on to Personal Lines Marketing. Suzanne has been with Broker Direct for over 25 years and is responsible for the Groups marketing and the running of the Business Operations and Services Department which encompasses our Broker Support Team, Accident Assistance Team and our other TPA service areas where her main focus is providing excellent customer service. Suzanne is also a member of the Chartered Management Institute.

Compliance

Darren has worked in Financial Services compliance since 2004 and began to specialise in Insurance related compliance in 2008 gathering industry experience as a Compliance Consultant and Broker Compliance manager before joining Broker Direct. Darren joined Broker Direct in 2013 as Head of Group Compliance and is responsible for regulatory compliance within the group.

Jacqueline Harvey
Claims Manager

Jacqueline brings over 35 years of insurance industry experience to her role, having started her career as a Motor Underwriter at Provincial Insurance before moving into claims. Her background spans both Commercial and Personal Lines, with hands-on field expertise gained as a Claims Inspector. She has held positions at Endsleigh Insurance, AGF, and Provident Insurance. Since joining Broker Direct in 1997, Jacqueline has been instrumental in leading the Claims department for both Broker Direct and Proficient. She is responsible for the strategic, operational, and technical oversight of claims services, ensuring high standards of delivery and customer care. A Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII), Jacqueline is a passionate advocate for professionalism, continuous development, and technical excellence across the insurance sector.

Financial Controller

Daran started at Broker Direct in February 2000 as a junior within the Premium Administration department. Over the past 25 years he has progressed and worked through both the Finance Department and the Business Information Department, holding roles as assistant accountant, management accountant, group project accountant, and business information manager. Daran is CIMA qualified and his current role is Financial Controller, reporting directly into the CEO. He has the Finance team, Premium Administration team, & Business Information team reporting into him.

Head of People

Alex began his career in insurance with Ageas, gaining experience across Motor, Household, and Compliance. After a short legal career, he discovered a passion for solving People challenges within growing businesses, and in his prior role helped scale to a successful private equity exit as HR Director. Returning to his roots in insurance, Alex plays a key role as Head of People in supporting the Broker Direct Group people strategy, helping to shape a positive working culture, and in driving employee engagement. Known for his approachable nature, collaborative style and focus on detail, Alex is excited about the future at Broker Direct. Alex holds law degree and is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, and outside of work enjoys fitness and Lotus cars.

IT Operations

Steve’s IT career spans over 20+ years. Having gained experience at a large computer manufacturer and a managed IT Service provider, he joined Broker Direct in 2010. Steve leads our IT Operations team to deliver robust, secure, and reliable technology services across the business. He and his team are responsible for the management and maintenance of our IT infrastructure - covering everything from staff devices, servers, networks, telephony, connectivity and security.
